Dushanbe — Tajikistan has marked the 35th anniversary of its state independence with military, cultural, and academic events.
As part of the latest celebrations, a military parade was held in Dushanbe on September 7 to mark the country’s 35th anniversary of independence. According to Tajik media reports, around 27,000 officers and soldiers from the armed forces, security and law enforcement agencies, and several other units took part in the ceremony. Emomali Rahmon, the President and Supreme Commander of Tajikistan’s Armed Forces, also attended the event and addressed the military personnel.
At the same time, a scientific and cultural conference titled “Independent Tajikistan: A Link between Aryan Civilizations” was held in Dushanbe to mark the anniversary. Researchers and academic and cultural figures from at least 27 countries attended the conference.
In his remarks, Emomali Rahmon referred to growing competition among identities, languages, values, and interests around the world and emphasized the importance of cultural and spiritual solidarity among Persian-speaking peoples.
The President of Tajikistan described language as the “foundation of the nation’s spiritual existence” and said the international “Peyvand” association should play a central role in preserving, honoring, and promoting the language. He also emphasized that the language should gain a stronger position in the fields of science, technology, the economy, and diplomacy.
Mohyeddin Mahdi, an Afghan researcher and historian, also attended the conference and delivered a speech on Tajikistan’s position within the Persian cultural and civilizational sphere.
These events are being held as Tajikistan marks the 35th anniversary of its independence this year. The country celebrates its Independence Day annually on September 9.
