Nearly three days have passed since a worker became trapped following the collapse of part of the Qatqati gold mine in Shaki District of Badakhshan Province. Rescue efforts are still underway.

Local sources say that about three days ago, three workers became trapped under rubble and soil after part of the mine’s roof collapsed. Two were rescued alive after hours of efforts by workers and local residents.

The third worker, however, remains trapped under the rubble. According to one of his colleagues, the worker is still alive, and rescuers have managed to reach part of the tunnel and provide him with water and food. A video provided to the media by one of the workers shows the trapped worker speaking with his colleagues.

Local sources add that the rescue operation is being carried out mainly by mine workers and local residents, and no effective action by Taliban officials to extract the worker has so far been reported.

Efforts to rescue the worker are continuing, and local sources are monitoring his condition.
