Washington, August 9 – U.S. President Donald Trump compared recent U.S. military operations against Iran with the 20-year war in Afghanistan, claiming that the United States achieved in roughly six months what long wars such as Afghanistan never accomplished.

Speaking during a Cabinet meeting at Camp David on Friday, Trump claimed that Iran’s naval and air capabilities had been completely destroyed and that the country no longer possesses operational aircraft or active air defense systems.

He also said that U.S. military strikes against Iran would continue and reiterated that Iran would never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon.

Trump’s remarks come as the war in Afghanistan ended after two decades of U.S. military involvement without achieving all of its stated objectives. U.S. forces withdrew from Afghanistan in 2021.
