On the occasion of June 20, World Refugee Day, the Afghan Women’s Window of Hope Movement issued a statement calling for urgent support from the international community for Afghan refugees.
The statement noted that millions of Afghan citizens have been forced to leave their country due to war, insecurity, human rights violations, and the widespread restrictions imposed by the Taliban, and therefore deserve international protection and assistance.
The movement expressed concern over the increasing risk of forced deportations of Afghan migrants from Pakistan, delays in the processing of immigration and asylum cases, and the uncertain situation of thousands of Afghan refugees in third countries, including Qatar and Indonesia.
The Afghan Women’s Window of Hope Movement urged governments and international organizations to expedite the review of asylum applications, prevent the forced return of refugees, and ensure special protection for women, children, journalists, and human rights activists.
