An Afghan woman criticized the Taliban’s treatment of women, saying that the fundamental rights and freedoms of women and girls in Afghanistan have been taken away and that restrictions and actions carried out under the banner of “Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice” have led to increased violence against women.

She stated that these measures present Islam to the world as an unjust and misogynistic religion, while, according to her, Islam is a religion of justice, human dignity, and respect for human rights.

The Afghan woman also called on the international community and global institutions to be the voice of Afghan women and girls, defend their rights, and not leave them alone under the current circumstances.

Her remarks come amid reports of increasing restrictions and pressure on women in parts of Afghanistan, which have sparked widespread domestic and international reactions.
