The Coalition of Independent Women’s Protest Movements in Afghanistan has condemned the recent arrests of women and girls in Herat Province and called for an immediate halt to these actions.

In its official statement, the coalition described the arrests as “alarming actions that contradict human dignity,” noting that women have been detained due to their manner of dress and pressure exerted against them.

According to the coalition, the situation in Herat reflects a broader crisis. Sweeping restrictions on women’s lives, education, work, and social participation have deprived millions of women of their fundamental human rights.

The coalition stressed: “No society can achieve justice, stability, and development through the elimination, silencing, and restriction of women.”

The coalition called on international organizations and human rights defenders not to remain silent about the situation of women in Afghanistan and to amplify their voices.

The Coalition of Independent Women’s Protest Movements in Afghanistan stated that it stands alongside women and girls of Afghanistan and is committed to continuing peaceful protests and fighting for freedom and equality.
