The Taliban’s Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has announced a ban on the use of firecrackers and similar fireworks at wedding ceremonies, celebrations, and similar gatherings in Afghanistan.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the ministry said that celebrations should be held in accordance with Islamic guidelines and Sharia principles and should not cause fear or distress among children, women, older people, patients, or other citizens.
According to the statement, the production, import, sale, and use of firecrackers and similar materials are prohibited, and violators will face Sharia-based and legal action. The ministry has called on citizens to cooperate in implementing the order.
Previously, the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior had also banned the use of firecrackers during nighttime hours. However, reports indicated that these materials continued to be used in Kabul and some other areas.
