Ms. Honardost stated, “It is truly shameful to say that five years have passed and for five years a dark shadow has hung over Afghanistan.” She added that millions of Afghan women and girls have been deprived of work and opportunities and continue to live under difficult conditions.

Criticizing the international community’s response to the situation of Afghan women and girls, the Hope Window Movement member said that the world has “closed its eyes” to their plight.

Shafiqa Honardost expressed hope that one day the international community will pay more serious attention to the situation in Afghanistan, especially the conditions of women and girls, and take action to bring about change.
