Sami Sadat, leader of the United Front of Afghanistan, announced the official launch of the front's military operations against the Taliban in a video message. He said that on Saturday he issued the order for all United Front forces to begin operations, stating that the objective of the campaign is the "liberation of Afghanistan."
Sadat said that the Taliban's leadership, members, and bases would be the primary targets of the United Front's military operations. According to him, Taliban members who have allegedly been involved in violence against former Afghan security forces, women, and young people in recent years are among the front's top priorities.
The United Front leader also claimed that Afghanistan's neighboring countries should be aware that the Taliban are actively providing military training and equipment to terrorist groups, posing a threat to regional security. He alleged that the Taliban are currently offering sanctuary, weapons, training, and logistical support to Ansarullah Tajikistan and Ansar al-Furqan Iran.
Sadat further emphasized that the United Front of Afghanistan has no hostility toward any neighboring country and remains committed to developing political relations, security cooperation, and regional partnerships. He added that the interests of Afghanistan and its neighbors are closely linked through shared goals of security, stability, and mutual cooperation.
Responding to the announcement of the United Front's military campaign, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said he does not deny the existence of armed groups opposed to the Taliban. However, he claimed that the core leadership of these groups is based outside Afghanistan and that most of their activities are concentrated on social media.
