Three Afghan citizens who were arrested during the protests in the Iranian city of Isfahan in January 2026 have been sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Isfahan, according to Afghanistan International.
According to the report, the three individuals were charged with “participation in setting fire to a police station,” and the Revolutionary Court issued death sentences against them.
This comes as a number of Afghan citizens have previously been executed in Iran. Human rights organizations have expressed concern over the rising number of executions of Afghan nationals in the country, reporting that dozens of Afghans have been executed in Iran in recent years.
