Videos shared on social media show a luminous object with colorful lights in the sky over Tehran, prompting widespread reactions and speculation among users.
Some sources and open-source intelligence (OSINT) experts have suggested that LED lights may have been attached to a kite and flown at night. Others have speculated that two helium balloons may have been carrying a string of LED lights.
However, the videos circulating online do not provide enough information to determine with certainty the nature, altitude, size, or flight pattern of the object.
So far, Iranian authorities have not provided any official or independent explanation regarding the luminous object or the videos circulating online.
