Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, said at a press conference on Wednesday that, in the group’s view, demonstrations and street protests have no place under Islamic law.
Mujahid said that demonstrations are more common in countries with democratic and republican systems; however, according to him, the Taliban government structures its laws and system based on Islamic Sharia.
At the press conference, the Taliban spokesperson did not provide further details about the group’s position on street protests or the ways in which people can express opposition to government policies.
