Following the arrest of women in Herat and the escalation of widespread restrictions on women and girls in Afghanistan, a group of women within the country have established the "Women's Freedom Network" (FWN).
Members of this network say that the organization has been formed with the aim of supporting women's peaceful protests, defending their fundamental rights, and strengthening solidarity among Afghan women.
According to its members, they are striving to support women and girls by creating educational platforms, raising awareness, providing professional skills training, and promoting economic empowerment. They also aim to amplify their voices at the national and international levels by documenting the challenges, restrictions, and violations of women's rights.
The Women's Freedom Network, while expressing concern over the continued deprivation of women from education, work, and social participation, has called on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights institutions to take practical and effective measures to support the fundamental rights and freedoms of Afghan women.
