The International Federation of Afghan Media has officially commenced its activities.
A group of Afghan journalists, media executives, and communication professionals based in various European and Asian countries have announced the establishment of the International Federation of Afghan Media (IFAM).
In a statement, the founders said that the federation was created in response to the extensive challenges faced by Afghanistan’s media community in recent years.
According to the statement, the International Federation of Afghan Media is an independent, non-profit, and non-political organization established to support Afghan journalists and media workers, defend freedom of expression and access to information, strengthen solidarity among media organizations, and mobilize support from international institutions.
Federation officials emphasized that Afghan media outlets have faced widespread restrictions, economic difficulties, forced migration, and professional pressures in recent years. They noted that the establishment of this organization can help improve coordination and provide greater support for Afghan journalists and media institutions.
The founders also described the preservation and strengthening of Afghanistan’s free and independent media as a shared responsibility and an essential necessity for the future of freedom of expression and public awareness in the country.
