Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Ishaq Fayyadh, a Prominent Shia Religious Authority, Passes Away
The official website of Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Ishaq Fayyadh, one of the most prominent Shia religious authorities, has confirmed his passing through an official statement.
The statement said: “It is with profound sorrow and grief that we received the news of the passing of the eminent Marja’ al-Taqlid, Grand Ayatollah Haj Sheikh Mohammad Ishaq Fayyadh (may his soul rest in peace).”
Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Ishaq Fayyadh was born in Afghanistan in 1930 and was regarded as one of the leading scholars of the Najaf Seminary. He had a large following among Shia Muslims in Afghanistan, Iraq, and many other countries.
Following the death of Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Saeed al-Hakim, Ayatollah Fayyadh, alongside Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani and Ayatollah Bashir al-Najafi, was considered one of the most influential Shia religious authorities in Najaf.
The statement noted that he devoted his life to serving Islam, teaching Islamic sciences, educating scholars and students, and spreading the teachings of Ahl al-Bayt. He also left behind a significant body of scholarly work.
According to the statement, his passing represents a major loss for the Shia world and the wider Muslim community due to his distinguished religious and scholarly status and his extensive services to Islamic seminaries.
Reports indicate that Ayatollah Fayyadh had been hospitalized in Najaf several days ago due to illness and ultimately passed away.
