Local sources report that two separate clashes have occurred between Kuchis and residents of Behsud District in Maidan Wardak Province.
According to the sources, in one of the clashes, which occurred two days ago, four Kuchis beat and injured a local resident named Rajab Ali with stones and sticks. During the confrontation, one of the Kuchis also had a tooth broken.
A source said that the commission for resolving disputes between Kuchis and settled residents ruled against Rajab Ali and ordered him to pay 80,000 Afghanis in compensation to the Kuchis.
In another incident, sources said that three residents of the Siah Sang area in Hisa-e Awal Behsud were beaten by Kuchis and sustained head injuries.
According to the report, the commission for resolving disputes between Kuchis and settled residents fined the Kuchis in this case and ordered them to pay 120,000 Afghanis in compensation to the residents of Siah Sang.
The clashes come as the season for Kuchis to return from central Afghanistan has begun. Local residents of Behsud accuse the Kuchis of damaging their crops and grazing lands along their routes, an issue that, according to sources, has in some cases led to clashes between the two sides.
