Following reports of multiple explosions in the southern Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas and other areas in southern Iran, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that American forces, acting on the orders of President Donald Trump, have begun a new wave of military strikes against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In a statement, CENTCOM said the operation is aimed at degrading Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation and maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz.
The statement added: “The United States holds Iran responsible for the recent unprovoked attacks against commercial vessels and civilian crews transiting one of the world’s most critical international waterways.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged of multiple explosions in Bandar Abbas and several other locations in southern Iran. Iranian authorities have not yet released official details regarding the extent of the damage or any possible casualties.
