Insulting and Sexualized Treatment of an Effigy of Sami Sadat
Kandahar — A video circulating on social media shows individuals allegedly affiliated with the Taliban engaging in insulting behavior toward an effigy resembling General Sami Sadat, the former commander of Afghanistan’s Special Forces and leader of the “United Afghanistan Front.”
In the footage, the individuals present subject the effigy to humiliating and sexualized treatment. The release of the video on social media has prompted reactions from users.
In recent weeks, Sami Sadat has announced military activities by the United Afghanistan Front against the Taliban, while the front has reported several operations against Taliban forces in different parts of Afghanistan. Afghanistan International also reported on August 16 that two Taliban members were killed in an operation allegedly carried out by the front in Faryab.
