Ahmad Massoud, leader of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, in response to recent protests in Herat and the arrest of women by the Taliban, praised the steadfastness of the women and men of this province in defending the rights, freedom, and human dignity of Afghan women.
In a message on his X account, Massoud wrote that the people of Herat once again demonstrated that tyranny, force, and repression can never silence the will of the people. He emphasized that defending women’s rights and freedoms means defending dignity, justice, and the future of Afghanistan.
The leader of the National Resistance Front also described the Taliban’s actions against women and their treatment of protesters as evidence of the group’s repressive nature, adding that Taliban rule is based on fear, pressure, and depriving citizens of their basic rights.
He addressed the women of Herat, saying: “Defending your rights and freedoms is defending the dignity and future of Afghanistan.”
