The Afghan Women’s Freedom Network has issued a statement saying that the ban preventing girls from taking the national university entrance examination (Kankor) and the continued prohibition on their access to higher education has entered its fourth year.
In its statement, the network expressed concern over the ongoing educational restrictions and called on the international community and human rights organizations to take concrete action to ensure Afghan girls’ right to education. The statement stressed that education is a fundamental right and should not be denied to girls.
The Afghan Women’s Freedom Network also called for the immediate reopening of universities to female students, describing the continued deprivation of girls’ access to higher education as deeply concerning.
