Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, and Amir Khan Muttaqi, the group’s Acting Foreign Minister, traveled to Tehran on Thursday to attend the funeral and burial ceremony of Ali Khamenei, the former Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to Iranian media reports, the funeral ceremonies for Ali Khamenei are scheduled to begin in Tehran on Saturday. Khamenei was killed about four months ago in joint U.S. and Israeli airstrikes in Tehran. Due to security considerations, his funeral and burial ceremonies had been postponed until now.

Reports also indicate that the funeral ceremonies will be held in several stages across the cities of Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad.
