At least four people have been killed and two children injured in a traffic accident on the Khost–Kabul highway.
Tahir Ahrar, spokesperson for the Taliban police command in Khost, said the incident occurred yesterday as a result of a collision between a Mazda-type vehicle and a rickshaw. He added that among the deceased are a woman and two children, while the injured have been taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The incident comes as published figures show that road accidents in Afghanistan continue to claim lives. According to compiled data from confirmed incidents over the past week, at least 26 people, including 11 children and five women, have been killed and 46 others injured.
The rise in traffic accidents across various provinces in recent months has become one of the main causes of non-natural fatalities among citizens.
