Amrullah Saleh, Afghanistan’s former First Vice President, reacted to recent remarks by the Pakistani military regarding the attack in the Ziarat area of Balochistan, saying that Islamabad has only now, after three decades, begun referring to the Taliban as “illegitimate.”

In a post published on his official X account on Thursday, Saleh wrote that the change in tone by Pakistani officials toward the Taliban reflects a shift in the country’s official stance toward the group.

His comments came after the Pakistani military, following the deadly attack in the Ziarat area of Balochistan, accused the Afghan Taliban of providing safe havens for armed militants and called on the Taliban authorities to prevent Afghan territory from being used to launch attacks against Pakistan.
