The Kuwaiti military announced on Wednesday, July 8, that the country’s air defense forces intercepted and neutralized two ballistic missiles and 13 drones launched by the Islamic Republic of Iran after they entered Kuwaiti airspace.
According to a statement published by the Kuwaiti Armed Forces on the social media platform X, the missiles and drones were detected early Wednesday morning and intercepted before reaching their targets. Kuwaiti authorities also confirmed that the incident caused no casualties or material damage.
The incident came after the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that U.S. forces had carried out military strikes on more than 80 targets in Iran on Tuesday. CENTCOM said the operation was conducted in response to Iran’s alleged attack on three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
