The Taliban have released a video claiming that their forces discovered and seized a large quantity of weapons and ammunition from the home of Karimullah, the brother of Jumakhan Fateh, in Nusay district of Badakhshan province.
The move comes as the Taliban have launched extensive operations in Nusay district in recent days to disarm individuals affiliated with Jumakhan Fateh and other local forces.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban’s spokesperson, announced on Saturday that Jumakhan Fateh would be put on trial after surrendering to the Taliban.
Jumakhan Fateh, a former Taliban deputy governor of Zabul, surrendered to the Taliban on August 17 (26 Asad) following several days of clashes between forces under his command and Taliban forces in Nusay. The fighting continued for about a week before his surrender.
Following Fateh’s surrender, the Taliban have intensified the process of collecting weapons from individuals affiliated with him in Nusay. Reports indicate that hundreds of weapons have been collected during the process.
