A powerful explosion near a private school in the Dasht-e Barchi area of western Kabul has injured several people, including children.

According to local sources, the explosion occurred at around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, August 17, in front of the Shama-e Hedayat private school and educational center in Mahdia Township.

Video footage released from the scene shows ambulances being dispatched to transport the injured to nearby hospitals following the explosion.

According to reports, some of those injured were students and children who had been dismissed from school at the time of the explosion. However, the exact number of casualties and the cause of the blast have not yet been officially announced.

Health sources have also reported that several injured people, including children, were taken to hospitals in Kabul. Some reports have put the number of injured at around 30, but this figure has not yet been independently verified.

Taliban officials have so far not provided official details regarding the nature of the explosion, those responsible, or the exact number of casualties.
