Local sources in Herat province report that the Jibril area witnessed a noticeable increase in the presence of Taliban forces and a tightening of security measures overnight.
Residents say that Taliban forces have been deployed across streets and alleys in the area, and the normal movement of citizens has been partially restricted. According to one resident: “The streets have become extremely empty, and due to the heavy presence of armed forces, passenger vehicles are rarely seen, and daily life has been disrupted.”
Meanwhile, reports indicate the establishment of checkpoints and traffic control in parts of Jibril. However, this situation comes as Herat has also seen several instances in recent months of increased security measures and temporary restrictions in some urban areas.
