Former Taliban Governor in Jawzjan Called Women “Foolish” and “Deficient in Intellect”

According to a new BBC report from within the Taliban system, Abdullah Sarhadi, the former Taliban governor of Jawzjan, referred to women as “foolish” and “deficient in intellect” while dealing with a young woman’s request for a divorce.

According to the BBC, the incident occurred when a young woman, whom the outlet has given the pseudonym “Toba” to protect her identity, approached Abdullah Sarhadi to obtain a divorce. According to the report, Sarhadi attempted to dissuade her from seeking a divorce and told her that if she separated, she would lose her honor and dignity.
