The first dedicated freight train from Linyi City in China’s Shandong Province has departed for Hairatan Port in Balkh Province, Afghanistan. The cargo is reportedly valued at approximately 8 million Chinese yuan.

According to China’s Xinhua News Agency, the shipment includes textiles, chemical raw materials, tools and construction machinery produced in Linyi.

The train is expected to travel through Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan before entering Afghanistan via the Termez border crossing. It is scheduled to reach Hairatan Port after approximately 20 days.

The route has been described as the first dedicated freight service from Shandong Province to Hairatan. Previously, goods from Shandong to Afghanistan were transported mainly by road or through a combination of road and rail. These methods reportedly increased transportation costs and made delivery times less predictable.

According to reports, the new route could provide another option for transporting goods and expanding trade ties between China and Afghanistan. However, its actual impact on transportation costs and delivery times will depend on how the route operates.
