Fasihuddin Fetrat, the Taliban’s Chief of Army Staff, called on opponents of the group to return to Afghanistan and live alongside the people of the country during a ceremony marking August 19.
Fetrat said that the “embrace of the Islamic Emirate” remains open to its opponents and that they can return to the country. At the same time, he warned that if those who return disrupt public order and security, the Taliban will deal with them in a “serious, decisive, and forceful” manner.
The remarks come as a number of political and military opponents of the Taliban remain outside Afghanistan, while some opposition groups continue to call for political change in the country.
