Turkey’s Interior Ministry has announced that security forces have arrested 51 suspects in 16 provinces as part of an operation against ISIS.

The operation was conducted on Saturday, October 3, by gendarmerie commands in the provinces of Adana, Adıyaman, Balıkesir, Bursa, Diyarbakır, Düzce, Edirne, Gaziantep, Iğdır, Kayseri, Mardin, Mersin, Nevşehir, Sinop, Şanlıurfa, and Zonguldak.

Turkey’s Interior Ministry said those arrested are suspected of membership in ISIS, financing the group through individuals and organizations described as charities, and promoting the group on social media.

According to the ministry, the operations were carried out by gendarmerie forces in coordination with Turkey’s judicial authorities.

Turkish authorities have conducted extensive operations against networks linked to ISIS in recent years, and the latest arrests are part of those ongoing efforts.
